Obituary Condolences

Roy Ericksen, 78

Roy Ericksen 78, a resident of Mountain Home passed away January 10, 2013 in Mountain Home. Woody Allen once said, "The thought of dying doesn't bother me. I just don't want to be there at the time." It was also Roy's wish, and it was granted.

Roy was born in Brookfield, Ill to Clarence and Fran Ericksen. Roy served four years in the U.S. Army, stationed in France. He was married for seven years to his first wife Marion. He was then granted complete care and custody of their four children.

Roy was a tall, slim man with a neatly trimmed beard. He was known as the professor at the restaurant he frequented and had a instant attraction to his now wife Sue. She asked him what he taught and he said, "Sexology." He said, "not really, I'm divorced and have four children. Would you like to meet them?"The attraction grew for all of them. They married October 16, 1967. All Roy really wanted was love and respect from his children and friends and didn't much care what anyone else thought.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lynn Ericksen Clark; a son, Curtis Ericksen; their dogs, Ford, Edsel, Chrysler , Studabaker, Sissy and of course their rabbit, Thumper.

Roy is survived by his wife Sue; one daughter, Jean Ericksen of West Virginia; a son, Roy D. Ericksen, Jr. of Texas; three grandchildren, one local, Jason Clark who was always there for him and he could always count on and Roy loved him for it; four great grandchildren and many more family and friends.

Services are private under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.
