Shirley Wurzer, 83

Shirley E. Wurzer, age 83, of Kenosha, died on Monday, July 4, 2011 at Aurora Medical Center.

Born in Detroit, MI on October 28, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Ethyl (Skepper) McNeil. She was a graduate of Park High School in Racine.

On May 29, 1954, she was united in marriage to Cyril A. Wurzer at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Kenosha. After over 45 years of marriage, he preceded her in death in 2000.

For several years, Shirley was employed as an accounting clerk at Bardens. She also worked for a time at V.R. Wesson, Massey Harris in Racine, and for KUSD as a "Lunch Grandmother."

For ten years, Shirley lived in Arkansas where she was a member of the Senior Center in Flippin, AR and served as treasurer for the Rea Valley Volunteer Fire Department. She returned to Kenosha in 2002. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, knitting, quilting and making dollhouses. She once presented a nine room dollhouse she had made for the Shriners Convention in St. Louis, MO.

Surviving Shirley are her four loving children: Barbara (Kevin) Pierce of Pleasant Prairie, Ronald (Kathy) Wurzer of Whitefish Bay, Leo (Chrissy) Wurzer of Sheboygan and Charlene (Mark) Pearson of Sun Prairie; her nine beloved grandchildren; and 7 cherished great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Wurzer in 1981 and her brother, David McNeil.

Funeral services for Shirley will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 9:30 AM at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
