Theodore R. Rutzen, 86
Theodore "Ted" Rutzen, 86, of Gassville, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014, at Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Ted was born February 29, 1928, at Chicago, Illinois to Anthony and Mary Belachinzik Rutzen. At the age of 16, Ted convinced his mother to sign for him to go into the Navy. At the time, he had three brothers in the service. Ted was a WWII veteran and received an honorable discharge. He retired from GM after 36 years. Ted and the love of his life, Elizabeth, moved to Gassville, Arkansas in 1988.
Ted was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church and was an usher for many years. He took a lot of pride in any job he did. Ted was a member of the Knights of Columbus and belonged to the Polish American Club where he served as President for some time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Mary Rutzen; wife, Elizabeth; five brothers, Walter, Joseph, Stanley, Frank and Johnny, and one sister, Helen Pock.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, with Reverend Father Stan Swiderski, as Celebrant. Pallbearers will be Paul Schwarz, Ed Moranz, Robert Maher, George Stidham, Stephen Gutting, Robert Lewandowski and George Klodzen.
Graveside Services will be 10:00 am, Friday, September 5, 2014, at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Illinois, with Father Ignatius Anaele, officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
