Thomas O. Evrard, age 82, a resident of Mountain Home, Arkansas died Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at the Gassville Therapy and Living Center in Gassville.
He was born June 2, 1930, in Allentown, Pennsylvania to Edna and William Evrard. Tom received a Bachelor's of Science degree from Penn State University, a Master's degree from Virginia Tech and a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from Rutgers University. His employment with Olin Chemical Company and CIBA Agrochemical allowed him to travel all over the world. Tom retired from the University of Arkansas as the Director of the Northeast Research and Extension Center in Keiser, Arkansas. He was a United States Army Veteran.
Mr. Evrard is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betsy) Cole-Evrard; two sons, Tim Evrard of Maumelle, Arkanasas, Bill Evrard of Louisiana; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Jamie Stringer and Jessie and Craig Thomas, all of Maumelle, Arkansas; eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; three stepsons and their spouses, Brad and Marcie Cole, Dr. Andrew and Beverly Cole, all of Conway, Arkansas and Jeff and Carolyn Cole of Dallas, Texas; six step grandchildren and a sister, Ertha Hulbert of Indiana. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
