Tony Mack Stowers, 73

Tony Mack Stowers, 73, a resident of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away Saturday, June 11, 2011, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He was born August 10, 1937, in Macon, Tennessee to Frederick and Imogene Stowers. Tony retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service to his country. He married Shirley Ann Moore on February 12, 1955 in Ashland, Mississippi.

Tony was a home builder and commercial fisherman during his working years. After retiring he enjoyed fishing, watching westerns and enjoying life to the fullest. Tony was a very talented man, whose character and strength touched everyone who had the opportunity to be a part of his life. Family was everything to him and he always had a special place in his heart for his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Frederick Lee Stowers.

Tony is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley A. Stowers of Mountain Home, Arkansas; a son, Mark Anthony Stowers; a daughter, Patricia Ann Weiss; four grandchildren, Kathy Linthicum, Connie Street, Keri Lawing and Christie Colgrove; a sister, Fredha Olson; three brothers, Dale and Norman Stowers and Michael Galloway; eleven great grandchildren, Matthew Weiss, Brittney Linthicum, John Linthicum, David Street, Michael Street, Tony Street, Paige Street, Brook Lawing, Ryenn Lawing, Jakob Lawing and Dani Colgrove; two special dogs, Corkey and Jasper; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home Chapel, 2833 Highway 62 West, Mountain Home. Burial with military honors provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ozark Post 3246 will be in Baxter Memorial Gardens in Mountain Home under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Galloway, Michael Lawing, Kevin Street, Mark Stowers, Jessie Cannon and Jerrett Lawing.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, 4301 West Markham Street, Little Rock, AR 72205-9985.
