Wayne T. Kanatzar, 84

Wayne T. Kanatzar, 84, a resident of Mountain Home passed away Friday, February 10, 2012, at the Gassville Nursing Center.

He was born December 9, 1927, in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Riley T. and Hazel Onita Parker. Wayne served in the United States Navy for 4 years during World War II. Wayne married Norma Delloyd on July 6, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri. After his military service he was a firefighter with the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department. During his career at the fire department he worked his way up to captain and was the Scuba Instructor for the department. Wayne retired after 25 years of service. He umpired and coached Little League Baseball. He relocated to Mountain Home in 2007 from West Plains, Missouri. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Wallace Gibson and Wasby Dell Kanatzar.

Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Kevin "Kip" Kanatzar of Gassville, Kerry and Mary Kanatzar of Kansas City, Missouri and Kristen Neal Kanatzar of Norfork; a sister, Lawanda Hank of Raytown, Missouri; his former spouse, Norma Delloyd of Gassville; a daughter-in-law, Amanda Kanatzar of Mountain Home; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home. Interment will be in Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
