William (Bill) Byrne, Jr., 86

William (Bill) Byrne Jr of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed on the September 19 after a long illness. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 13, 1925. He is the son of William J Byrne, Sr and Beatrice Byrne. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Donald and twin brother Robert, wife Mary Ann Byrne of 50 years and daughter Nancy.

He is a graduate of Chebanse High School and American Technical Society of Engineering. He served in the USN during WWII and Korean Conflict on LSTs and Destroyers. He worked for Local Iron Workers #465 employed at Armour Pharmaceutical, Armstrong World, Uniroyal, and US Steel Corp in Baton Rouge were he retired in 1980 and moved to Mountain Home in 1983. He was a Boy Scout Master for troop 321 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kankakee, IL. He was a member of the American Legion Post #52, DAV Chapter #30, and Fleet Reserve #251. And he was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mountain Home.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Baron (Michael) of Richmond VA and Robin Sheputis (Al) Essex IL. and a son Bruce (Kay) Byrne of McDonough GA. 8 Grandchildren, 3 step Grandchildren, 10 Great-grandchildren, 3 Step Great-grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great-grandchildren. His fiancée Rita Streetz resides in Mountain Home. He has numerous friends and shipmates from IL, OH, NC, and LA.

Services will be Friday, September 21 at 10:00 A.M. at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Ken Taglauer and Reverend Rodney Steele officiating. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Visit an online guestbook at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com
