William Ray Owensby, 89

Mr. William Ray Owensby, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the age of 89 years. He was born July 25, 1923 in Cambria, Illinois.

In his younger days he enjoyed flying his Piper Cub or Mooney for business and pleasure trips. He loved growing roses, working in his yard and faithfully fed the wildlife. He was a good friend and neighbor, never hesitating to lend tools or a helping hand to all who knew him. He greatly enjoyed boating and fishing on Lake Norfork.

He was a veteran of World War II and served with the United States Navy as a gunners mate, second class. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Mountain Home, Arkansas and the VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Bea, 4 children and their spouses: David (Cathy) Owensby, John (Donna) Owensby, Kay Owensby and Sam (Mary Ann) Owensby. A sister, Leona Fay Rice; 10 grandchildren: Courtney, Jamie, Holly, Heath, Kenna, Jesse, Meghan, John, Jackie and Michael; 4 great grandchildren: Erica, David, Addidon and Hennessey. He and Bea also have 3 nieces: Karen Metheney, Linda Sanders, and Lisa Peithmann.

There will be a memorial service at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at First Christian Church , conducted by Pastor Lewis Godby. Military honors will be provided by the Ozark VFW Post #3246.
