Theo "Red" Funkhouser, 85

Theo "Red" Funkhouser, 85, a resident of Norfork, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014, at the Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.

He was born October 25, 1928, in Baxter County in the Hopewell Community to the late Johnny James and Tilda (Hamilton) Funkhouser. Theo married Normalea Acklin on June 14, 1947, at the Baxter County Courthouse in Mountain Home. He worked at Coleman Outing Company in Wichita, Kansas for 17 years. Later, Theo was the co-owner of P and F Dozer Service in Norfork and the owner of Funkhouser Backhoe and Dozer. He also worked on the construction of the Bull Shoals Dam as well as a guide on the Norfork River. Theo loved bass fishing and deer hunting. Most importantly, he recently gave his life to Christ and followed in baptism. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four siblings, Ellen, Georgie, Atlee and Tom.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years and 9 months, Normalea Funkhouser of Norfork; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rhonda Shedenhelm of Lakeview and Teresa and Aaron Flowers of Norfork Village; a sister, Mary Adkins of Midway; four grandchildren, Steven Marcoccia of Norfork, Gabriel Sullard of Shady Point, Oklahoma, Brian Shedenhelm of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Joshua Sullard of Wichita, Kansas and four great grandchildren, Brody and Levi Sullard, Shelby Marcoccia and Fern Shedenhelm.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral will be to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Delman Parnell and Bro. John Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Galatia Cemetery under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be the four grandsons, Steven Marcoccia, Gabriel Sullard, Brian Shedenhelm and Joshua Sullard, along with Todd Bradbury and Steve Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Everett Parnell, Loyd Andrews, Melvin Small, Roger Pitchford, Aaron Flowers, Sid Pickens and C.D. Sullard.
