Rev. Howard M. Weiford, 79
Rev. Howard M. Weiford, a child of the King and the tenth of twelve children, was called to his eternal home in the heavenly realm on Sunday, August 17, 2014, at his residence in Mountain Home at the age of 79.
Howard was born January 18, 1935, in Massillon, Ohio, the son of John Andrew Weiford and Lethia Aseneth (Snodgrass) Weiford. He served in the United States Army from 1954 until 1957 with two years of service being in Japan. On January 3, 1958, in Los Angeles, California, Howard married Mary Lou Cecilia Radtke. He was born again into the family of God in 1964. Pursuing Christian ministry, Howard graduated from Azusa Pacific College in 1970, and attended Denver Seminary for two years. Howard filled a number of pastoral, counseling and ministry positions, seeing marriages saved and many souls come to know the Savior. His love for the Word of God inspired him most. Locally he pastored the Flora Baptist Church in Fulton County for one year. In addition to his years of ministry, Howard worked as a mailman and insurance agent. Howard was a member of the Mountain Home Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and five brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Lou Weiford of Mountain Home, a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Doris Weiford of Maryland, a daughter and son-in-law, April and Dan Tyree of Elizabeth; two brothers, Dock Weiford of Ohio, and Dallas Weiford of California, five grandchildren, Summer (Jason) Lease, Gregory Weiford, and Allison, Meredith, and Marshall Tyree, and six great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Jerry Hoffman and the Rev. Bill Hughes officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign Ward Ozark Post 3246 and the United States Army Guard. Burial will be private under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
