He and his wife, Mary, refinished wood furniture together. He taught his son-in-law, Darrell, the burnishing trade. They traveled together delivering dealer's treasures and were best friends. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Gainsville, MO, having received his recognition certificate in September.

Survivors include daughters, Sharon (Darrell) Stiner and Lola Hipes Bowley, both of Kokomo; step daughter-in-law, Lavena Murray of Bull Shoals and special friend, Loretta Penton of Mountain Home. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren.
