Howard Starkey Obituary
Howard Clay Starkey, Jr., 91, of Mountain Home passed away November 26, 2016 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. He was born November 28, 1924 in Harrison, Arkansas to Howard Sr. and Helen (Rogers) Starkey. On August 15, 1946 in Harrison, he married Helen Edith McLean and they spent 68 years together before her death on October 16, 2014.
Howard was a member of the United States Air Force from 1943-1946. He spent his career working for Arkansas Power & Light Company at several locations ending with his retirement as Manager of the Yellville division. He was a member of the Lions Club, Rotary Club, 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. Howard loved to hunt and fish. He especially enjoyed traveling to Mexico after his retirement to fish the lakes there.
Survivors include Cynthia (Earl) McKinney of Berryville, Steve (Casey) Starkey of Mountain Home, Janet (Gary) Linn of Bethalto, Illinois, David (April) Starkey of Mountain Home, Doug (Tammy) Starkey of Yellville, and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Roller Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Gordon Barton officiating. Burial will be in Baxter Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org/donate.
