Elwood A. "Al" Olson, 90, of Pasadena, TX, was born February 23, 1924, in Worcester, MA and passed away September 8, 2014. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, in Pasadena and retired from Exxon in 1976. Al owned Olson Sign Service for fifty-five years, first in Katy and then La Porte and retired again in 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Alice Olson, his first wife Mona Lee Olson, son Bob Young, and sister Phyllis Kelliher and her husband Bob. He is survived by his loving wife Jane Kelly-Olson, daughter Karen Copeland and husband Ron of Pasadena, son Tom Olson of Houston, step-daughter Vicki Kelly-Owen and Paul Owen of Houston, step-sons Edwin Kelly of Houston and Patrick Kelly of Austin; grandchildren Laura Mills and husband Ben of Friendswood; Steven Copeland and wife Dr. Suzanne Copeland of San Antonio; three great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Larson and husband Bob of Holden, MA; brothers, Ken Olson and Carolyn Graham of Kennebunk, ME; Lloyd Olson and wife Susan of Worcester, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Grandview Funeral Home, in Pasadena, Thursday, September 11, 2014, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Pasadena Friday, September 12, 2014, 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church Pasadena Building Fund.
