George Dawson Lyon passed to heaven the morning of January 3rd, 2016. He fought the good fight, but his cancer was too much to overcome.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann Cable Lyon, his sons Scott and Eric, Scott's wife, Stacy Bush Davis Lyon and Eric's wife Ondrea (Ondi) Lyon. George was blessed with four grandchildren, Kaleigh Marie, Ashlyn Grace, Brendan Scott, Emme Ann, and two step-grandchildren Austin Davis and Avery Davis. Additionally, George is survived by his sister, Anna Joetta Lyon Landis, brother-in-law Jeff Landis and brother Dr. Robert Earl Lyon.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Thayer C. Lyon and Ethel Kennedy Lyon and his brother Dr. Thayer C. Lyon Jr. and wife Norma Morrison, as well as, Dr. Robert Earl Lyon's wife Rachel Miller Lyon.
George graduated from Bucknell University in 1958 with a degree in Political Science and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He worked for Harbison-Walker in Pittsburgh, Pa. before being relocated to Houston, Texas.
He started an independent business, Refractories, Inc., in 1979 which his sons Scott and Eric operate today.

A memorial service will be held at Clear Lake Presbyterian Church 1511 El Dorado Blvd. Houston, Texas 77062 on Saturday, January 16th at 10:30 am.
