Jean L. Karl, 91, passed away peacefully at her home as she wished on Friday, February 22, 2013 surrounded by family. Jean was one of five children born in Pittsburgh, Pa on Sept. 29, 1921 to Ester Barrett and Patrick Deegan. She was happily married to John F. Karl Sr. for over 54 years. Jean was a very social person with countless friends and thoroughly enjoyed dancing, playing bridge, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nassau Bay. Jean was a very loving, compassionate and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John and is survived by her children Pat Huber, James Huber (Allie), John Karl, Jr., and Sherry Matter (Donald C.), six grandchildren, Rod Huber, Tiffany Huber Nelson (Michael), Jessica Huber, Chad Matter (Jennifer), Kimberly Matter Zitur (John), Ashleigh Matter Klug (Bryce) along with eight great grandchildren, Clayton, Ryan, and Taylor Nelson, Dylan and Cole Matter, Karlyn and Quentin Zitur and Everleigh Klug. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
There will be no memorial service according to Jean's wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 or on the web @ www.stjude.org.
Jean Karl was truly a lady and very blessed.
