Kathleen Grace Smith-Miles passed on to Heaven on Thursday Jan 7, 2016 peacefully at her home in State College, PA. Kathleen was born on August 30, 1948, the oldest of seven siblings and daughter of Orlando B. and Mildred K. Smith of Bellefonte.
Kathleen was constantly overflowing with love for her family. Her sense of humor and sharp wit made everyone who knew her smile. She was always willing to lend an ear and offer sound advice. Her adoption of many animals over the years, including her beloved Zoe, is just one example of her big heart and unending compassion. She enjoyed reading, cooking for guests, searching for treasures at thrift shops and garage sales, and dining out.
After spending her childhood in Maryland and Pennsylvania, she moved to Southern California in 1979, where she resided for several years working in Industrial Sales. She moved to Houston TX. in 1992, where she spent the following years of her career as a Professional Sales Executive in the Environmental Science Industry.
She moved back home to Pennsylvania in late 2013 to be near her family and to help with the care of her mother, and made many new friends along the way at Mount Nittany Residences.
A small sea-side memorial will take place for her Texas friends and family on Sat. March 12, 2016 at sunset (6pm) on Galveston Beach at The Seawall and 53rd. (Directly across from Rainforest Cafe). In honor of her memory, please wear a blue shirt.
