Melinda Bozett Mills of Houston died on November 27, 2015. She is survived by her husband Ron Mills, her son Jeremy Mills, her mother Lucile Bozett, her brother John Bozett, her sister-in-law Susan Bozett, her nephew Lucas Bozett and her niece Natalie Bozett. She was preceded in death by her father Clifford Bozett.
Melinda was born on January 1, 1949, in Centralia, Illinois. She attended Centralia High School then Austin Peay State University in Tennessee where she earned B.S. and M.S. degrees. She was a highly recognized science teacher working for 35 years in several states and England but spending most of her career in the Houston area. Melinda's enthusiasm for science was infectious; she treasured her students and positively influenced the lives of so many. She won numerous regional, state and national awards for teaching excellence including the Texas Medical Association Award for Excellence, the Texas Academy of Science Outstanding Texas Teacher Award and in 1996 the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching.
Melinda also had many interest outside her career. She enjoyed reading, gardening, exercising and walking her dog Pal. She was a caring daughter, supportive sister, devoted mother, loving wife and trusted friend. She is greatly missed by all.
A celebration of Melinda's life will be held on June 4, 2016, at 3:00 PM in the Bayou Building, Garden Room, at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Her friends, colleagues and former students are all invited to attend.
