Leroy Tucker Obituary

Leroy Wayne Tucker, 87, of Beaumont, died Monday, January 14, 2013, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born on November 14, 1925, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Ida Bell Willis Tucker and Charles Alfred Tucker. Leroy was a process operator for Mobil Oil. He was a sixty year Mason. Also, he was a member of the Scottish Rite, member of El Mina Shriners of Galveston, Mid-Jeff Shrine Club, Oriental Band, the Grotto, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans. Among Leroy's many memberships includes his fifty years with the Order of the Eastern Star. He was involved with The Kitchen Class at Wesley United Methodist Church as well. Survivors include Charlene Goff of Beaumont; sister, Lorelia Lou Kyle of Lufkin; nephews, Allen Shaffer and Jerry Wayne Polland and his wife, Barbara; niece, Darlene Anderson and her husband, Jeff; and other survivors include, Don Ray Goff and his wife, Glenda, Donald Grubbs and his wife, Glenda, and Andy, Jenny, Kylie, and Tyler Goff. Leroy is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Jackie Shaffer. A gathering of Mr. Tucker's family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3810 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, 101 Block Street, Port Neches. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attention Donation Department, 815 Market Street, Galveston, Texas 77550-2725 or Wesley United Methodist Church, 3810 North Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas 77713. Leroy was a fine man and good friend, who didn't let his handicap slow him down. I first met him about 1999, in a wheelchair paint something at Wesley Church.
