JoAnn Flowers, 79, of Kountze, died Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Christus Dubuis Hospital of Beaumont. She was born on October 22, 1933, in Beaumont, to Melba Dozier Reed and Harold Reed, and had been a resident of Kountze most of her life. JoAnn was retired with the Texas Department of Human Services. She is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Billy Flowers, Sr.; son, Joe Flowers and his wife, Sheree, of Silsbee; grandchildren, Cody Swor of Kountze, Heather Stippel and Derrick Flowers, both of Beaumont, Misty Flowers of Orange, Amy Flowers of Beaumont, and Shawn Flowers of Silsbee; great-grandchildren, Carli Swor, Cody Shane Swor, and Blake Carey; brothers, Leon Reed and David Reed and his wife, Cindy, all of Kountze; and sister, Sandy Groze of Kountze. JoAnn is preceded in death by her son, Billy Gerald Flowers, Jr.; and daughter, Pamela Renee Flowers. A gathering of Mrs. Flower's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2013, at Broussard's, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 100 West Monroe, Kountze with interment to follow at Village Mills Cemetery, Village Mills. I met Joann in the early 90's. We worked together. I took to her right away. Such a down to earth lady. She will be missed but glad she is with her children & our Lord.

Just read this and I am heartbroken. What a wonderful lady and I know she will be missed terribly. Fond memories are going through my mind right now. My prayers are with the family.
