Goats, Ross
1963 - 2015 Ross Alan Goats, 51, of Mauriceville, passed away Tuesday September 1, 2015. Ross was born in Groves Texas in September of 1963 to Shirley Rankin Goats and Alvie Gene Goats. He later graduated with the class of '82 from Bridge City High School and attended Lamar University for 2 years. With the help of his wife of 28 years, Ross owned a successful remodeling business serving southeast Texas for 26 years. Due to his likable personality, he was a natural born salesman who never met a stranger. Longevity can testify of his generosity to his employees as well as customers, some of which were from the very beginning of his career. This competitive businessman also knew the value of being friends with his competition, as long as they were also honorable in their endeavors to serve the community. Ross Goats has proved to be a great provider and loving husband and father to his wife and three daughters. To those who were particularly close, he was known for his incessant picking, nicknaming and humorous jokes with restaurant servers. His ultimate desire was to be a blessing to God and the church. So much so that he cultivated in his daughters the love for godly music and giving in order that they may be of service to God. All those who were a recipient of his witness can attest that his greatest love was for truth and God's anointed ministry. He was a faithful saint of Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of Vidor for nearly 27 years under the direction of Elder Steve McMullen and Pastor Michael L. Phillips. It can accurately be depicted that in the 27 years of becoming a saint of God, he never missed attending church two Sundays in a row until his hospitalization. Ross will be greatly missed by family, friends, church comrades, and business acquaintances alike for his humor and honesty. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvie and Shirley Goats and brother, Ricky Goats. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Erica Goats of Mauriceville; daughters, Megan Goats of Orange, Monica Goats of Orange and Erica Renee Goats of Mauriceville; uncle, Bo Goats and wife Marlene of Nederland; sisters, Sondra Mora and husband Larry of Pasadena and Shana Maceda and husband Moises of Orange, numerous other family members. His family will receive friends Friday, September 4, 2015 at Faith Tabernacle, 1735 Hwy 12, Vidor, TX, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015, at Faith Tabernacle of Vidor, officiated by Reverend Michael L. Phillips. Interment will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery at 2312 Irving Street, Orange, Texas.
