Auvy "Joe" Wilson Sr.

Auvy Joe Wilson, Sr., 87, of Lumberton, went home to his Lord and Savior, Friday, January 11, 2013, at Silsbee Oaks Healthcare, Silsbee. He was born on November 2, 1925, in Center, to Dollie Mae Walker Wilson and Oscar Counsil Wilson. Joe was an Army Air Corp veteran having served in Italy during World War II. He retired with Union Oil, formerly Pure Oil, as a training supervisor after thirty-seven years of service. He became an ordained Baptist deacon at the age of twenty-five and over the years served the Baptist church in many capacities. Joe was a loving father who spent much time taking the family hunting, fishing, and on many camping trips. He also was active with Little League, Boy Scouts, and Royal Ambassadors. Joe served as a volunteer for Central Gardens Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of Local O.C.A.W. #228. Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, Katherine Wilson; children, Auvy Joe Wilson, Jr. and wife, Renette, of Conroe; Jerri Caldronia and husband, Vincent, of Melissa; and Joan Richardson and husband, Gerald, of Beaumont; brother, O'Neal Wilson and wife, Tootsie, of Pineland; grandchildren, Jodi Foster and husband, Stephen; Amy Kerr and husband, Dennis; Jenifer Williams and husband, Jason; Brian Caldronia and wife, Bethany; and John Richardson; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Kerr, Stephanie, Zach, Rachel, and Leah Foster, and Adam and Kate Williams. He is preceded in death by his sister, Jennie LaDelle Miller; and brother, Pearl Ross Wilson. A gathering of Mr. Wilson's family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 14, 2013, at Broussard's, with interment to follow at 3:00 p.m., at Martin Cemetery in Pineland.
