Clara Louise Low On Sunday, October 28th, 2012, Clara Low passed away at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Florida after a short illness. A resident of Gainesville for 19 years, Clara always considered Texas as her home. Life began for Clara in South Point, Ohio, August 2, 1927 to parents Joseph and Bessie Webb. The family would grow to four sons and four daughters during the Great Depression era. Later, Clara found herself a single mother with two young sons eventually meeting the love of her life and husband for the next 40 years, Harry G. Low. He was a high school basketball coach in east Texas and Clara made the decision to return to school at the age of thirty five and graduate from Lamar University in three years time. She and Harry returned to graduate education, both receiving Master of Education degrees from McNeese State University. She retired after 30 years of teaching as a devoted elementary educator in the Vidor, Texas School system. During her professional career, she was a committed member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Delta Kappa, National Education Association, and the Texas State Teachers Association. Her many students loved her kind and caring demeanor. The family of Clara wishes to express their deep gratitude to Dr. Larissa Lim, staff of the Village, and a special appreciation to Haven Hospice of Gainesville, Florida for their loving care of our Mother.
