Colby Michael Bolen

Colby Michael Bolen, 29, of Houston, died peacefully on March 20, 2013. He was born August 23, 1983, in Beaumont, to Charlene Bolen Edwards and Richard Allen Bolen. As the only child of Charlene and Richard and the first grandchild of David Pineknot and Barbara Bradley, he was showered with unconditional love. Colby was a beautiful little boy with curly blonde hair. Wherever he went; the skating rink, swimming, church, vacation, the family flower shop, or to the oilfields of Orangefield, chances are that he was probably with one of his parents or grandparents and he was the best dressed kid there! Christ became the center of Colbys life at a very young age. His love of music was fostered by his Paw Paw, Aunt Patty, and his wife, Kristen. Colby and Kristens romance was ignited while waiting in line at the unlikely Department of Motor Vehicles. He asked her what time it was but had a watch on. They were together from that day on, marrying August 2, 2008. They shared a love of the music, the Lord, laughing and traveling, and credited God for being the ultimate matchmaker. Colby was the Assistant Director of Operations at the College of Biblical Studies. Colby was an extraordinary young man with a witty sense of humor, a great writing style, and a winning smile. He was handsome, loving, and kind. He had a beautiful singing voice that was both rich and soulful. His truest asset was his ability to put others needs above his own. Colby loved like no other. It was Colbys greatest desire to share the love and salvation of Christ. He had a burning wish to reach the unsaved. It is through Colby that the pure love of God shined the brightest. Our lives will forever be enriched because Colby Michael Bolen was in it. Survivors include his loving wife, Kristen Lizabeth Carpenter Bolen; devoted father, Richard Allen Bolen and his wife, Vivianna; steadfast mother, Charlene Bolen Edwards and her husband, Maurice; sister, Allison Bolen; grandmothers, Barbara Bradley and Betty Woodruff; mother and father-in-law, Susan and Robert Carpenter; sister and brother-in-law, Courtney and Kyle Hale and their precious children, Sophia and Grayson; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Beatrice Bolen; aunt, Pam Bolen Dickens; uncle, John Largent; and grandfather, David Pineknot Bradley. A gathering of Colbys family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Broussards, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Broussards, with interment next to his beloved Paw Paw at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:7 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
