Jurl Raymond "Snake" Laird

Jurl Raymond Laird Snake to his brothers, Killer to his co-workers, and J.R. to his Village Creek friends), 75, of Kountze, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, January 9th, 2014. He was born August 5th, 1938 to Andrew and Versey Laird in Sulfur, Louisiana, and grew up and graduated in Port Acres, Texas. He served honorably in the Marine Corps., became a longtime resident of Hardin County, worked for many years at Ameripol, Synpol, and owned Western Auto in Lumberton, Texas. Survivors include his sons and spouses Kevin and Sari Laird, Raymond and Robin Laird, brothers and spouses Glenn and Jennifer, George and Brenda, Max and Pam, Beau and Nancy, John (JB) and Ann, sister-in-law Delores Laird, grandsons and spouses Lucas and Jessica Myers, Aaron and Carly Laird, Wilson Laird, Randy and Ryan Laird. He had many other friends and relatives, nieces and nephews. He was preceded by sister Juanita Laird and brother Butch Laird. J.R.
