Lamech N. Wright, 77, of Vidor died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at his residence. A native of San Augustine, TX., he was a retired supervisor after 37 years with Gulf States Utilities in Beaumont. Lamech served his country in the United States Army. Lamech was Mayor of Vidor from 1995 to 1999, Vidor city council member from 1983 to 1995, past president of the SETX Regional Planning Commission, a member of the Orange Co. Appraisal Board, past Master of the Vidor Masonic Lodge post #1286, ordained deacon of First Baptist Church of Vidor and Pecan Acres Baptist Church in Vidor, volunteer with St. Elizabeth Hospital and Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas in Beaumont for 10 years, and was instrumental in the construction of the new Vidor Police Station. Lamech's hobbies were doing fundraising fish fry's for non-profit organizations and gardening. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Vidor under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Vidor. Lamech was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life Doris Askew Wright of 52 years and the mother of their three children. He is survived by his wife Alice W. Wright of Vidor, his brothers Johnny Wright and wife Billie of Plainview, TX., and Nelson Wright of Vidor, his children and their spouses Cindy and Brad Page of Katy, TX., Pam Braneff and fiance' Jerry Leonard of Vidor, Tim and Felicia Wright of Mandeville, LA., grandchildren Duncan, Ben, Josh, Stephanie, Lauren, Kristan, Jacob, Justin, Allie, Michelle, Megan & Nick and great granddaughter Audrey. He was much loved by his family.
