Martha Adams Bowen

Martha Adams Bowen, 89, of Beaumont, died Sunday, December 23, 2012, at The Clairmont, Beaumont. A native and lifelong resident of the Beaumont area, she was born on May 29, 1923, to Anna May Davis Adams and William E. Adams. Martha was a graduate of South Park High School in Beaumont and a member of North End Baptist Church. She retired at the age of 76 as an office manager for Nutrition and Services for Seniors. Survivors include her children, Becky Wyatt and her husband, Roy, of Beaumont; James E. Bowen, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Rowlett; Max Bowen and his wife, Tania; and Lisa Meshell, all of Beaumont; grandchildren, Karin Solano, Pamela Wyatt, Zack Bowen, Angela Hall, James Meshell, and Edward Meshell; great-grandchildren, Matthew Solano, Rebecca Solano, Mackenzie Bowen, and Dylan Hall; sisters, Ruby Stevenson of Grapevine and Maude Kibodeaux of China; brother, Richard Sprigg of Sulphur, Louisiana; and sister-in-law, Sarah Adams of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of twenty-eight years, James Edward Bowen; and siblings, Alfred Herman Adams, Willie Frank Adams, Nellie Lee Hall, Ida Bell Golibart, Ethel May Howell, Charles Earl Adams, Morris Ray Adams, and Doris Fay Finley. A gathering of Mrs. Bowen's family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Broussard's, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
