Robert Ray McRoberts

Robert Ray McRoberts, 84, of Lumberton, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. He was born on March 1, 1928, in Throckmorton, Texas, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Ray was a United States Army veteran having served as a Private First Class Communication Officer and received an Honorable Discharge in 1956. Ray retired as a process shift worker from Texaco Chemical Company in 1993, after thirty-eight years of service. Ray and the late Ann Ristoff McRoberts were married for thirty-five years, and together they raised six children. He is survived by his sons, Dank McRoberts and his wife, Lana, of Lumberton and Blake McRoberts and his wife, Trina, of Wimberley; daughters, Jan Leffage and her husband, John, and Karen Granato and her husband, David, all of Lumberton; and Mary Margaret Morrell and her husband, Roy, of Beaumont; son-in-law, Joel Abbo of Lumberton; eighteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Ray is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Ristoff McRoberts; daughter, Sue Abbo; and grandson, Aaron Leffage. A gathering of Mr. McRoberts' family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Broussard's, with interment to follow at Hooks Cemetery, Kountze.
