Rose Ann Jordan

Rose Ann Jordan, 73, of Beaumont, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, after a courageous battle with breast cancer for over ten years. She inspired all who knew her. Born in Beaumont on May 13, 1940, to Jesse Worden and Rose Lee Worden, Rose Ann grew up in both Beaumont and Erie, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Lamar University with her teaching degree and later with her Masters degree in Guidance and Counseling. While at Lamar University she was chosen for listing in Who's Who Among American Universities and Colleges. Rose Ann spent a number of years as a classroom teacher before retiring. After retiring, she and her husband, Harrison Jordan, enjoyed many years traveling to forty-nine of the fifty states while birding, hiking, canoeing, and backpacking. She and Harrison had a love for the outdoors and nature. Rose Ann also spent numerous hours volunteering for several organizations especially The Big Thicket National Preserve as Volunteer/Volunteer Coordinator for fourteen years. She also served on the Big Thicket Association Board for fifteen years. Rose Ann and Harrison volunteered on National Audubon Society Christmas bird counts for many years as well. Rose Ann was an exceptional grandmother to her grandsons and will be missed greatly by them. She is survived by her husband, Harrison Jordan; son, David Adrian and his companion, Gloria; daughters, Diane Adrian and Kathy Smartt and her husband, Chris; stepsons, Harrison W. Jordan and his wife, Hein and Marc Jordan and his wife, Laura; grandsons, Allen Burch and his wife, Silvia; Austin Busbee, Ethan Busbee; and Jimmy Smartt; great-grandson, Nathan Burch; sisters, Alice Richardson and Carol Hummer and her husband, Charles; and many nieces and nephews. A gathering of Mrs. Jordan's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 17, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 680 Calder, Beaumont. There will be a reception in the Cloister Room following the service. A family committal was held at Broussard's Crematorium, Beaumont. We are grateful for the excellent care given by Dr. M. Rimawi and staff at Baylor Breast Care Center, Houston; for Dr. Maria Blahey and Tonya in Beaumont; Odyssey Hospice; the sitters who were angels, Brenda, Owana, and Pauline, and for all the prayers and support from the Daughters of the King, family and friends, her Special Prayer Group, and the companionship and love of her loyal Boston Terrier, Lillie Mae.
