On silver wings, Sara Christine Coleman McGann boarded her final flight, first class, destination: Heaven, on Sunday, September 30, 2012. Her family traveled with her and held her hand as long as she was able, before giving her hand to God. A 34 year employee of Eastern Airlines, retiring in 1984. Chris began her career at the Eastern ticket office in the downtown Hotel Beaumont, Beaumont, Texas, and later manned a ticket counter at the Jefferson County airport, before transferring to Houston in 1963, to eventually become chief agent, supervising agent reservation training at Eastern's M & M building and coordinating Southwest Region Training. Born on September 10, 1926, in Greenville, South Carolina, to the late Arthur James and Rose Hollingsworth Coleman, she grew up in Greenville and Simpsonville, S.C., with four sisters and two brothers, graduated from Greenville High School in 1943, and that same year, married the dashing airman E.K. Mac McGann while he was stationed at Greenville Army Air Base for B-25 bomber crew training, and waited patiently for his return from WW II in his hometown, Beaumont, Texas. Chris was a devoted wife and mother, as well as a career woman, and a wonderful seamstress, who sewed many dance recital costumes for her daughters. She was an avid golfer, she even found time to travel with a competitive bowling league sponsored by Jax Beer. Chris traveled extensively abroad and loved to see the world. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, who passed in 1983; brothers, Dan, Clinton and sisters, Frances, Louise, Barbara, and Annie. Chris is survived by her daughters, Ann Hubbard of Houston, Tx., Barbara David and her husband, Jake of Spring, Tx.; grandsons, Mark Hubbard and wife, Michelle (their daughter, Gabrielle) of San Antonio and Andrew David of Spring, Tx.; granddaughters, Pamela Shaw and her husband, Derek of Houston, Tx. and Julie David of Spring, Tx.; great grandchildren, Tori Devery and husband, Kyle, Lexi and Dylan Shaw, and Brinley and Brooklyn David Spencer; great-great grand daughters, Dahlia and Emery Devery; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. Chris graced the halls of the Treemont Retirement community. Visitation will be held October 3, 2012, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., and the Funeral Service will follow, October 3, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home 12800 Westheimer, Houston, Tx 77077.
