Vaye Jean Watkins

Vaye Jean Watkins, 88, of Beaumont, died Thursday, September 27, 2012, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on August 17, 1924, in Plankinton, South Dakota, to Charlotte (O'Neil) and Arthur Meade. She was an active member of Moku'aikaua Church in Kailua Kona, Hawaii, until moving to Beaumont, Texas, where she attended Westgate Memorial Baptist Church. Vaye Jean was a joyful Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand- mother, and friend. She loved the Lord Jesus with all of her heart and strived to love her neighbor as herself. She was a blessing and an example to all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Vaye Jean is survived by her husband of nearly sixty-eight years, Albert Watkins of Beaumont; daughters, Lisa Mosley and her husband, David, of Beaumont; Jane Watkins of Santa Monica, California; and Lynn Marie Helvey and her husband, Christopher, of Taos, New Mexico; son, John Watkins of Santa Monica, California; sixteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchil- dren. She was preceded in death by two of her sons, David Watkins and Paul Watkins. A memorial service for Mrs. Watkins will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2012, at Westgate Memorial Baptist Church, 6220 Westgate Drive, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. She will be interred at the Moku'aikaua Church Cemetery in Kailua Kona, Hawaii, next to her son, David Watkins. Her committal was held at Broussard's Crematorium, Beaumont.
