Alice Renders Abel, 68, of Beaumont, died May 1, 2014. She was born on March 2, 1946, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Alice Sperling McElligott and James J. McElligott. Alice was retired from U.S. Steel and Chemical division marketing. Alice is survived by her husband, Clay Abel; daughters, Heather Marie Renders and Dana Abel Totzke; son, Martin Abel; grandson, Justin Abel; great-grandson, Jaeryth Abel; and the Janet Notaro family. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents; and by two special surrogate families, Walter and Peg Sperling and Leo and Maime Heuler. A Rosary for Mrs. Abel will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 8, 2014, with a luncheon to follow on-site at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont. Mrs. Abel will be laid to rest in her family plot at Northside Catholic Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
