Allen Jackson (Stokes III) Patterson Allen was born December 12, 1945. He was the son of Allen J. Stokes Jr and Grace Patterson. He was raised in the Port Acres community until February 1963 when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Viet Nam Veteran serving there in 1966. He returned home in December 1966 and married his sweetheart, Linda Marie. They had 4 children - Deanna (& Jose Darnell), Robin (& Ricky Berry), Brigg (& Amy) Patterson, and Andrea (& David Guin). He has 5 grand children: Dalton (& Crystal) Johnson, Cassie Johnson, Griffin Patterson, Chambre and Macy Guin. Allen also has 3 great grandchildren : Emily Johnson, Anabella and Lilyanna Vela. Allen retired from MOTIVA ENTERPRISE in 2003 where he worked for 36 years. He was on the Railroad most of that time except for when his was on the Sulfur Queen. He and Linda retired to Toledo Bend in October 2000 and Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer that year. She battled the big C until February 17, 2006. They were together for 44 years. Their children, grandchildren, and Church family helped to fill the giant void left by her passing. Allen and his brother John of Carthage, Tx. was adopted at a young age by Wiley E. Patterson. Allen also had four more brothers: Roy Dean Patterson (deceased), Troy Dean Patterson (deceased), Lester Patterson (& Margie) of Sedalia, In., Gordon Patterson (& Mary) of La Marque, Tx., and one sister, Delna Kay Patterson of Lubbock, Tx. Allen was remarried in May 2009 to Shelbia Jennings of Hemphill, Tx. Allen loved his GOD, his country, his Corps, his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers and sister, and many relatives and friends. We can only wonder if he is cleaning fish for Linda or just standing around talking ? Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:00PM, Sunday, March 25, 2012, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, TX. Funeral services will be at 11:00Am in the Oakhill Baptist Church, Oakhill Rd. near Hemphill. Burial will follow in the Oakhill Cemetery. Memorials to Stepping Stone Outreach Ministry, P.O.Box 1585, Hemphill, TX 75948 and Share Program @ Oakhill Baptist Church, 347 Timber Lane Loop, Hemphill, TX 75948, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
