Arthur Arlis Rutledge, also known to many as Buddy, was the son of Thomas E. Rutledge and Fannie Monk. He was born on November 5, 1925 and entered heaven on November, 14, 2012. Arthur married Mary Meshell on February 28, 1948 and celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this year. Most dear to his heart was his family. He is survived by his wife Mary and three children, Thomas Rutledge, Paula Washington, Steve Rutledge and wife Sara. Five Grandchildren, Paul Rutledge and wife Naomi, Chris Rutledge, Canaan Washington, Michele Chandler and husband Chris and Cade Corbello. Two Great Grandchildren, Brianna and Alayna Chandler. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Elton and William Rutledge. He was a very active member of the Magnolia Springs United Methodist Church where he served 52 years as the song leader and also on many of the various Church committees. Arthur was an important leader and charter member of the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department and served as a Fire Commissioner for Rural Fire District #3. He was the treasurer of the Magnolia Springs Community House for 50 years. Arthur also served on the Kirbyville School Board during the 1950's. During his work years, he was an employee of the Tennessee Gas Plant in Jasper working as a pipeline welder for over 37 years. After retiring 30 years ago, he enjoyed working on his farm bailing hay, cutting wood, raising cattle, and helping his neighbors and friends. He loved to witness to others about Jesus. Services will be Saturday, November 17, 2012, at 1pm at the Magnolia Springs United Methodist Church. Rev. Claude Taylor and Rev. Larry Shows will officiate the service. Pall bearers will be Paul and Chris Rutledge, Canaan Washington, Cade Corbello, Chris Chandler, Wade and Kelly Peek, and Michael Rutledge. Honorary Pall bearers will be firemen from the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department. The Family would like to extend a special Thank You to caregivers Sharon and Ernestine along with a Special Thank You to friends Jeff Muckleroy, Herman Kelly and Ray Johnson.
