Bernice May Kassel Brown, 99, of Beaumont, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at Harbor Hospice House, Beaumont. She was born on May 2, 1914, to Frieda and Theodore Kassel, in Evansville, Indiana, and had been a resident of Beaumont for seventy years. Bernice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, great- great- grandmother, and friend. She had been a member of First Christian Church for sixty years. Survivors include her daughters, Joanne Ferrell and her husband, Guy, of Silsbee; Cynthia Clark of Anahuac; and Kathy Leonard and her husband, Lynn; and grandchildren, Nathan Ferrell and his wife, Penny; Carl Wayne Ferrell; Kimberly Hartman and her husband, Marlon; Kirsten Martin and her husband, Roger; Trey Clark and his wife, Laura; Misti Clark; Tod Lawther and his wife, Jamie; Jacob Lawther; Lucas Leonard and his wife, Darah; Jeremy Leonard and his wife, Erin; and Jerrod Leonard and his wife, Tana; sixteen great-grandchildren; and four great- great- grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of fifty-eight years who passed away in 1990, Carl Raymond Brown; brother, Floyd Kassel; sister, Fern Russell; son-in-law, Warren G. Clark; and four great- grandchildren. A gathering of Mrs. Brown's family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with her funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 13, 2013, at First Christian Church, 5290 North Caldwood Drive, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
