Funeral services for Reverend Bill Hallam Sr., 83, of Jasper will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Stringer & Griffin Chapel in Jasper with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30- 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, at Stringer &Griffin Funeral Home, Jasper. Reverend Bill Hallam Sr. died Sunday, May 19, 2013 on the day of Pentecost peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family. Bill was born to Hugh & Sarah Hallam August 19, 1929 in Beaumont, Texas. He entered the Marine Corps at the end of WWII & was honorably discharged in 1950. Bill returned to Beaumont where he went to work at Southern Pacific Railroad. He met & married Betty Jane White & raised seven children together in the Jasper area. Bill was ordained in 1955 & together he & Betty pastored & ministered in Jasper until her death in 2003. In 2004 Brother Bill met & married Phyllis Crew & they have pastored Life Tabernacle in Kirbyville until his death. In addition to pastoring Brother Bill Hallam has been an entrepreneur, founding & operating several successful businesses in East Texas for over 60 years. He served many churches from Texas to Idaho as a minister or director. Brother Hallam believed simply Love God & follow peace. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Hallam of Jasper,TX; sons Billy Hallam Jr. & wife Deanna of Jasper,TX, Gary Hallam & wife Cindy of Baton Rouge, LA, Pastor Walter Hallam & wife Cindy of La Marque, TX, Larry Hallam & wife Candy of Huntsville, TX, Michael Hallam & wife Debbie of Jasper, TX; daughters Rebecca Wright & husband Wayne of Texas City, TX, Nancy Colbert & husband R.C. of Dallas, TX, brothers Roy Jacks of Silsbee, TX, Terry Jacks of Orange, TX, & Tommy Jacks of Silsbee, TX, Eighteen grandchildren: Billy Hallam III, Gary Hallam Jr, Melinda Brannan, John David Hallam, Amanda Cooper, Catherine Rudolph, Jennifer Hallam, Douglas Hallam, Brian Hallam, Robert Hallam, Kerby Hallam, Stacey Hallam, Avery Hallam, Cassidy Haworth, Dallan Haworth, Bryce Colbert, Chayse Colbert, Emory Colbert & nineteen great grandchildren.
