1934 - 2016 A Celebration of Billye E. Moomaw Phelps' life, Age 81, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 8th, at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper. Visitation will be Thursday, January 7th from 5-8:00 P.M. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home. Billye passed away January 4, 2016 at St. Elizabeth in Beaumont. Billye was born February 23, 1934, a native of Paris, TX. She was a graduate of Paris High School and attended Paris Jr. College. Billye was a long time resident of Jasper. She and her husband owned and operated Phelps Auto Repair in Jasper. Billye loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a devout Christian, loved reading, cooking and boat racing and cherished her time with her beloved cats. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Cleabern E Phelps of Jasper, TX; son, Robert Birdwell and wife Kelly of Broaddus, TX; daughters, Brenda Buffington and husband Joseph of Buna, TX, Mary Lou Rhoades and husband Micheal of Granbury, TX; grandchildren, Michael Wayne Jacobs of Norfolk, VA, Ashley Southerland of Hamilton, TX, Brett Garrick of Mobil, AL, Kelsey Garrick of Spurger, TX, and Nico Birdwell of San Augustine, TX; as well as 6 Great-Grandchildren. Billye was preceded in death by her parents, William Bill Moomaw and Lylus Ashley Moomaw; and stepmother, Crystal Hodges Moomaw of Paris, TX Memorials may be presented to the and .
