Bob Oudley Bridgers, Jr., 88, of Beaumont, died August 31, 2013, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born in Beaumont, Texas, on December 1, 1924 to Mabel Willard Bridgers and Bob O. Bridgers, Sr. Pop was a man of great virtue and great humor. He spent his life preferring to be in the background helping and supporting his family and friends and was uncomfortable when attention was placed upon him. Pop served in the United States Navy during World War II and spent his working years at Mobil Oil in Beaumont and Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. He loved to travel and had many excellent adventures with his wife and children over the years. A final trip to Alaska planned for early August was cancelled due to his final hospitalization. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Rost Bridgers; his father, Bob Oudley Bridgers, Sr.; his mother, Mabel Willard Bridgers; and his brother, Rodney Bridgers. Survivors include his loving wife, Maudry Breaux Bridgers of Beaumont; his and Jean's children: Robert Bridgers and his wife, Cathy, of Beaufort, South Carolina; Barbara Brookner and her husband, Steven, of Beaumont; Mary Delacerda and her husband, David, of Silsbee, Texas; Cecile McDonald and her husband, Stephen, of Beaumont; Ruthie Bridgers of Estes Park, Colorado; and James Bridgers and his wife, Jeanne, of Sydney, Australia; grandchildren: Cullen Bridgers of Berlin, Connecticut, Jean Claire, Megan, Robin and Sanders Bridgers of Beaufort, South Carolina, Jenny Palermo of Houston, John David Delacerda, Sara Herrington, and Scott Delacerda of Silsbee, Audie McDonald of Beaumont, Connor McDonald of Sitka, Alaska, Elyse McDonald of Hermosa Beach, California, James Henry Reyna of Aurora, Colorado, Edward, Eloise and Henry Bridgers of Sydney, Australia; great- grandchildren, Alex and Corbin Delacerda of Silsbee; Dylan Hollyfield and Jackson Herrington, both of Buna, Lilly and Trey Palermo of Houston, Jhasmyne Reyna of Aurora, Colorado; sister, Billie Lee McGee of San Antonio, Texas; and Pete the dog from Hermosa Beach, California. He is also survived by his step-children, Donna Breaux Wallace, Randy Breaux, Kevin Breaux, Mark Breaux and their spouses; eleven step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. Pop's family would like to thank his long-time physician and friend, Dr. Mark Toups, as well as the other doctors, nurses and staff at St. Elizabeth who all took compassionate and loving care of him in his final days. A gathering of Mr. Bridgers' family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 2, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
