Burres Bean, 102, of Kirbyville died Thursday, March 7, 2013 in Beaumont. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 11, at Central Baptist Church in Kirbyville with burial at Kirbyville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville. A native and lifelong resident of Kirbyville, she was a longtime music teacher for Call and Kirbyville schools, and was a longtime private piano teacher, still teaching piano until age 101. She was a graduate of Kirbyville High School and Stephen F. Austin State University. She received her Masters Degree from Hardin-Simmons University. She is survived by her nieces, Linda Mott of Spurger; Laverne Collette and Diana Jacobs, both of Beaumont; nephews, Gordon Allen of Plano, Rev. Jimmy Sheffied of North Little Rock; Bobby Allen of Lufkin and Don Allen of Houston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Bean; brother, Alonzo Allen and sister, Helen Sheffield.
