Carol Elaine Knight Broussard, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, aunt, sister, and Grammy passed away peacefully Saturday, May 10, 2014, surrounded by her family at her home in Port Neches. She was 69 years old. Carol was born in Groves on July 14, 1944, to James Virgil and Ora Mae Knight. A 1962 graduate of Nederland High School, Carol returned to the Golden Triangle area from Houston in 1979. She was a hearing monitor for the Social Security Administration for fifteen years until her retirement in 2012. Carol was also a member of the F.O.E. Ladies Auxiliary. Carol is preceded in death by her father, James V. Knight. She is survived by her husband, Herby Broussard; mother, Ora Mae Knight; sons, Michael Montgomery and Allen Broussard; daughters, Melissa Montgomery and Denna Broussard; siblings, Roy L. Bernard, Nancy Knight Thaggard, Jennifer Knight, Fletcher Knight, and Cynthia Knight; grandchildren, Keith, Jaron, Isa Brie, Emily, Morgan, and Braedon; and great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason. Carol is also survived by precious nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own children. Following a private memorial service, a public Celebration of Carol's Life will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Fraternal Order of Eagles #3743, 2313 Nederland Avenue, Port Neches. To her family and those fortunate to know her, Carol was best known for her brilliant smile, infectious laughter, and ever- positive attitude. Carol's life revolved around her family and friends, always thinking of others before herself. She was a loving mother to her children and an incredible second mom to the rest of us.
