1953 - 2014 Carolyn Jean Phillippi passed away on July 5, 2014 from a serious fall. During her last few days on Earth, she was surrounded by many loving family members. She was born October 28, 1953 in Beaumont, TX, to the late George McCown Mac Phillippi MD and the late Betty Jean Rhodes Phillippi RN. Carolyn loved animals and horseback riding from a very early age. Her childhood dog, Little Bit, was never forgotten. Her father, mother, and three siblings had many, many happy days on Honeysuckle Lane, in Beaumont. Carolyn, a beautiful blue-eyed blonde, graduated in 1972 from Forest Park High School in Beaumont where she excelled in theatre and debate. Carolyn thoroughly enjoyed her college days and being a member of the AOPi sorority. She graduated from Auburn University in 1976 with a degree in speech pathology-audiology. Carolyn shared many great stories from her working days where she enriched the lives of many precious public school children. Carolyn was an Auburn football fan for life. In fact, she held season football tickets and looked forward to cheering on the tigers and tail-gating with her beloved first cousins. Carolyn possessed an amazing sense of humor, was an excellent pianist, and an organ donor benefiting hundreds of people. She was an exceptional mother to her two children, Ryan and Erin. Carolyn also possessed a talent for throwing pottery, and many of her loved ones have pottery treasures in their homes created by Carolyn's loving hands. Carolyn retired to Possum Bend, AL, where she enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her beautifully decorated home. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her horses, Princess and Lucky, and her dog, Little Bit. She is survived by her two children, James Ryan Conner MD, his wife Lauren and their three children: Brooke, Julie, and Andrew of Tuscumbia, AL; her daughter Erin Caroline Conner RN of Birmingham, AL; her sister Ann Phillippi (Mel) of Oxford, MS; her brother Dan Phillippi (Debbie) of Baton Rouge, LA; her sister Jane Phillippi Burns (Scott) of Beaumont, TX; many nieces and nephews; her dogs, Daisy, Peaches, and Maggie; her cat, Katie; her donkeys, Shug and Spirit; her goats, Cam and Bo; numerous peacocks and chickens. Carolyn will be sorely missed by many. We all loved her very much. Services were held July 8 at the family cemetery on Cook Hill, Possum Bend, AL. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you send memorial gifts to Auburn University's speech pathology department, your local Humane Society, or animal shelter or the
