Known to family and friends as Chuck or Charlie, Charles Green Smith Jr. had a zest for life and passion for story telling. Like a Jimmy Buffet song, he often dreamed of escaping on his sailboat. On November 25, 2013, Charles left this earth to begin his next adventure. Born on May 7, 1952 in Beaumont, Texas, Charles was an area native until he graduated from Port Neches Groves high school. From there he attended the University of Houston, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in fine arts. He then went on to have a successful career as a piping designer for a number of refineries in the area as well as across the country. Among Charles' many passions, he loved to paint and his talent was recognized by numerous galleries in the Houston area. Charles is survived by his daughter Lindsey and her husband (and son-in-law) Jim Mathias, brother Michael Lee Smith and sister Ginger Smith Temple. He is proceeded in death by his father Charles Green Smith Sr. and mother Helen Elizabeth Smith. Visitation will be Friday, November 29, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am with a graveside service at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.
