1933 - 2016 Charlotte Mary Shockley Root passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016, in Katy, Texas, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was 83. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Doile Shockley in 1981 and Jimmie Root in 2002, and infant daughters Leona Shockley and Alberta Shockley. While she was a mother to many - she always believed there was room for one more at the table, in the house and in her heart - she is survived by 10 children, 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway Chapel, in Katy, followed by a vigil service and rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, in Katy, with the Rev. Tom Lam officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Seaside Memorial Park Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the charity of individual choice are suggested. Charlotte was born on February 23, 1933 in Baraboo, Wisconsin to Anson Leroy and Edna Violet Getchell Case. She loved art and the artistic process, and for many years owned Charlotte's Web art gallery in Nederland, Texas. Charlotte was an avid mystery reader, enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles, and was a shark at Skip-Bo. She also enjoyed taking long drives and tending to her house plants. She was a former resident of Baraboo, Wisconsin; Corpus Christi, Texas; and Port Arthur, Texas, before moving to the Katy-Houston area. She is survived by her children, Laurin Michaels, Douglas Shockley and his wife Patricia, John Shockley and his wife Tara, Jesse Shockley and his wife Susie, Brian Shockley and his wife Elvia, Rose Fowler and her husband Chris, Teresa Shockley, Kathryn Shockley and her spouse Sandy Lee, Rebecca Shockley, and Martha Pollock and her husband Bruce; grandchildren, David Shockley and his spouse Janet, Jason Shockley, Graham Shockley, Jessica Shockley, Missy Cosson, Kim Tolbert, Anston Shockley, Autumn Kern and her husband Kriss, Grant Fowler, Violet Shockley, Bruce Pollock, Jr., Theodore Pollock, Sage Pollock, and; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Dariana, Drew, Kaylie, Maya, and Joze-Lynn. She was preceded in death by her parents Edna and Anson, and siblings Fred Case, James Case, Myrna Weaver, Frances Doppke, Alberta Case and Leonard Case. Condolences may be expressed at
