1935 - 2014 C. J. Joe Monk, 78, of Beach City, TX was born October 7, 1935, in McAlester, OK and passed away Friday, September 5, 2014, at his home surrounded by family. He attended school in Stillwater, OK and Oklahoma City, OK where he graduated from Classen High School in 1953. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with honors in 1958 as an Industrial Engineer, earned an MBA from Louisiana State University, and served in the U. S. Army as a Lieutenant from 1958 until 1960. He was employed by Exxon with assignments in Baton Rouge, LA, New York City, NY, and Houston. He was then employed by FINA as the refinery manager in Port Arthur and then the chemical plant manager in La Porte. He retired in 1999. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine Monk and brother, John C. Monk, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Connie Monk of Beach City; his former wife, Martha Monk of Beaumont; children and their spouses, Doug and Erin Monk of Kingwood, Steve Monk of Cove, Sallie and Jeff Sparks of Beaumont, Kerry Lopez of Mont Belvieu, and Kelly Stanley of Houston; brother, Roy J. Monk of Oklahoma City, OK; and eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
