Clifton B. Sanderfer, 92, passed away on April 20, 2014. He was born on August 30, 1921 in Port Lavaca, Texas to Clarence William Sanderfer and Effie Eleanor Jensen Sanderfer. He resided in Port Arthur, Texas for 87 years. Following his graduation from Thomas Jefferson High School in January 1941, he went to work for Gulf Oil Corporation. He served three years in the U.S. Coast Guard from July 1942 through October, 1945. Upon completion of his military service he returned to work at Gulf Oil where he was a compounder in the Bulk Oil Department. He retired in 1985 with 44 years, 11 months of service. He was a long time member of Grace Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his daughters, Myra Williamson, Port Arthur, Jeanette Scheel and husband Brad, Hutchinson, Kansas; grandchildren Brian Scheel, Kansas City, Missouri, Michael Scheel, Overland Park, Kansas, Elisabeth Scheel, Hutchinson, Kansas, great-grandchild Erica Hemphill; brother Melvin Sanderfer and wife Linda, Kountze, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lois Mae White Sanderfer and his brother, Clinton L. Sanderfer. Private graveside services were conducted on April 24, 2014 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
