1926 - 2016 Dewey Dewitt Cooper, 90, of Sam Rayburn, Texas, passed away August 12, 2016 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, Beaumont, Texas. Dewey was born in Many, Louisiana on April 3, 1926 to Dewitt Talmadge and Annie Mae Cooper. A World War II Veteran, Dewey served in the Army Air Force on Tinian Island in the South Pacific. He retired in 1984 from Port Arthur's Texaco Inc. as Purchasing Department Supervisor and moved to Lake Sam Rayburn, Texas to fish, hunt, and play golf. He was a member of Port Arthur Masonic Lodge No. 1264 AF & AM and Lake Rayburn United Methodist Church. He served on the Jasper First National Bank Board of Directors, Municipal Utility Board, Rayburn Country Improvement Association, and was a Charter Member of Rayburn Country Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Bonnie Turner Cooper. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Cooper; sisters, Evelyn Shaw, Inez Sibley, and Eula Hoffpauir. . A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, August 20th from 1:00-2:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. Memorial service at Lake Rayburn United Methodist Church.
