1936 - 2014 Donn R. Rudy Rudasill, 78, of Village Mills, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014, after a short but difficult battle with cancer. He was born in Kenton, Ohio, on September 4, 1936, to Ethel and Harry Rudasill. Rudy had a twenty plus year career in the United States Navy, retiring in 1974. He flew F-4 fighter planes during the Vietnam War and also served in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW. After his Navy career, he then retired from Stewart & Stevensen Services in Houston. His careers took him to many places all over the world. Rudy and Peggy divided their retirement time between their lake home at Cape Royale in Coldspring, and traveling throughout the United States in their motorhome, with one of their favorite destinations being Ruidoso, New Mexico. In 2001, they moved to Wildwood Resort City in the beautiful East Texas Piney Woods to continue enjoying retirement life. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Wildwood MGA for many years. Rudy is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Peggy Rudasill; daughters, Donna Pennell and Debbie Herring and her husband, Tom, of Houston; grandchildren, Shawn Hammac of Pensacola, Florida; Richard Pennell of Houston; and Staci Herring and her fiancee, Mike Eades of Llano; and brother, Robert Rudasill of Washington, D.C. A gathering of Mr. Rudasill's family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Wildwood-Village Mills United Methodist Church, 5943 FM 3063, Village Mills, under the direction of Broussard's, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. Memorial contributions may be made to Wildwood-Village Mills United Methodist Church, Facilities Improvement Fund, at the address listed above; or to the .
