The Lord sent the son of Eddie and Girlean Mazone to us on a sunny day in Pineland, Texas on September 22, 1948. Early in his childhood his parents moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. It is here where he cultivated relationships with friends and family he would sustain for a lifetime. He loved deeply. He considered his closest cousins Brenda, Vickie, and Betty his sisters and Robert Sneed and Melba J were like brothers to him. With his father-in-law, Alexander Barragan he developed an unbreakable bond and often referred to him as Dad. Donnie had the privilege of serving with his father as a Merchant Marine for a number of years traveling around the world before deciding to work on the mainland to be closer to his children. Donnie found his passion in caring for others evidenced by him working as an EMT-Paramedic. This would ultimately lead to a career in Safety working at various oil refineries in Corpus Christi. Donnie met the love of his life, Kathryn in 1988 and shortly thereafter they married. With her unwavering support and confidence, Donnie moved their family to Beaumont, Texas where he was employed at C.A. Turner as the Contract Safety Supervisor. He also served becoming a certified firefighter and served on the Mobil and ExxonMobil Fire Brigade while employed and served on the rescue team. Those who worked with him describe him as proficient, thorough, firm, but fair. Donnie also believed in charity and giving back to the community, actively serving as a Mason for over 42 years and was member of Traveling Lodge No. 001 A.F.& A.M. Donnie was baptized on December 26, 1980 and was a god-fearing man. He strived to walk upright every day of his life and be an example for his children to emulate. He will not be forgotten and his legacy will carry on through his loving wife, Kathryn; Aunt Josephine Dyer; sister Doris Mazone; daughters Rena Powell (Steven), Monica Mazone, LaSonya Mazone, Mea Mazone; sons DonTeau Mazone, Jeffrey Barragan (Dolores), Dontell Mazone, McKinley Darden; grandchildren Brandon Powell, Nicole Mazone Villareal; Chase, Raphael, Gabrielle, and Julian Mazone, Sierra Clayton, Christian Stevens, Jeffrey, Jeremy, and Jace Barragan, Taye Darden, Kalyice Mazone; and a host of great grandchildren, cousins, extended family and friends.
