Doris Kovar Catrett, 91, of Beaumont, died Friday, July 6, 2012. She was born September 4, 1920, in Wiggins, Mississippi, to Emma and Walter Wood. She attended Jefferson Davis Nursing School in Houston in 1938. After becoming a registered nurse, she married Marvin Kovar, and they had twin girls. She has resided in Beaumont since 1945. After working as a private nurse, and supervisor at Baptist Hospital, Doris worked thirty-one years for Dr. J.C. Crager, retiring in 1985. Doris was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She loved outdoors, flowers, cooking, traveling, and her family. Survivors include her daughters, Mary Lou Kovar and Betty Sue Kovar, both of Beaumont; stepson, Rick Catrett of Austin; sister, Emma Lou Rickerson of Alabama; thirteen nieces and nephews; and three pets. Doris is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Marvin Kovar; second husband, Fred Catrett; three brothers; and two sisters. A gathering of Mrs. Catrett's family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2012, followed by her memorial service at 6:00 p.m., at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3810 North Major Drive, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
