Dorothy Sharp, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on August 12, 2012 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Tx. She was born on Aug. 18, 1919 to Luther and Connie Browning In Picton, Tx. She accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 15. Dorothy married Burley Sharp in 1937 and lived for 40 years in Port Arthur. She worked at the Port Arthur Walgreens for 20 years. In 1973 Dorothy and Burley retired to Hemphill, Tx where she lived until moving to Rosewood Assisted Living in Newton, Tx. Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Burley and their son, Walton. Dorothy is survived by a son, James and wife, Lynne of Burkeville, Tx, daughter, Sharon Walls of Houston, Tx, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the residents and assistants at Rosewood for the wonderful care and friendship Dorothy found there. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 from 10:30 am until 11:30 am with the funeral service to begin 11:30 at Smith Funeral Home in Newton, Tx. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Harbor Hospice, 2450 N. Major, Beaumont, Tx 77713.
