Edward C. McAlister, 70, of Medina, passed away on September 7, 2013 at a hospital in Kerrville. He was born in Woodville, TX to Walter Booth McAlister and Berdell (Broom) McAlister on January 13, 1943. He married Jane Cook on January 27, 1962 in Beaumont. His life centered around his family and grandkids. He was married for 51 years to his highschool sweetheart. He was a member of the Forest Park Methodist Church in Beaumont, as well as a member of the Methodist Men and the Lions Club in Beaumont. He was an executive of the financial industry for over 30 years. Afterward, he moved to Medina where he gained ownership of the Old Timer and enjoyed visiting with his friends and locals there for 13 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Glen McAlister. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane Cook McAlister of Medina; daughters, Cheryl DuPerier (Trip) of Medina, and Janie Vescovo (Patrick) of Austin; son, Michael McAlister (Michelle) of Georgetown; sister, LaWilda Chapman of Killeen; brothers, David McAlister of Woodville, and Alton McAlister of Woodville; and grandchildren, T.J. DuPerier, Callie DuPerier, Katherine Vescova, Patrick Vescova, Brandon Watson, Christopher Vescova , Lydia DuPerier, Logan Watson, and Conor McAlister. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Grimes Funeral Chapels. A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Thursday, September 12, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Medina with Bro. Allie Balko officiating.
